ForeFlight: Intelligent Apps for Pilots

We applied some elbow grease over the weekend and polished up the ForeFlight flight plan filing email confirmations.  Let us know what you think!

Now, instead of a boring text email confirmation, you get a sexier confirmation that includes color coded METARs and TAFs for the departure and destination airports and is presented via nicely formatted rich HTML.

Customers using both ForeFlight Mobile and ForeFlight File will now see the newly formatted email confirmations.  A screenshot of the new design is below:

ForeFlight in AOPA Magazines

ForeFlight was profiled in the March issue of AOPA Pilot and the April issue of AOPA Flight Training Magazines. Ian Twombly, new products editor for the popular publications, noted in his review that “the program’s user interface couldn’t be simpler”. This is the type of feedback that keeps us working hard every day to build iPhone software that helps improve pilot productivity, evokes a feeling of pure enjoyment, and improves “preflight intelligence”.

New HOWTO Videos Posted

Thanks again to Krista – our customer support angel and the voice behind the ForeFlight HOWTO videos -for producing a couple of new video tips that demonstrate how to use the new route filing and download manager features. Both of the new videos are available here. We recommend viewing the download manager video if you have not yet downloaded the latest airport databases. Once databases are downloaded, they can be referenced offline, wherever you might be!

This latest release of Desktop Edition is a minor maintenance release.  Unless you have experienced an issue fixed in this release, there is no need to update.  It addresses the following:

• removed old NOTAMAce link option from links menu
• removed invalid items in the “Show View” menu
• corrected a few bugs – one of which would prevent weather from downloading
