Our June release simplifies the app’s Download Settings, adds support for Custom Waypoint elevations, and more.
Simplified Download Settings
Easily configure your downloads more quickly with a new paradigm that groups all Data/Chart selections and Region selections in separate menus in More > Downloads. This change will not affect your existing downloads or download settings.
Select the types of charts and data you want to download in the Data Settings menu, as well as select High Resolution Basemap and Terrain downloads for additional regions beyond your subscription’s default. The selections you make here will apply to all regions selected in Region Settings, although not all chart/data types are available for all regions.
Region Settings let you select which regions the selections you made in the Data/Chart Settings will apply to. All regions supported by ForeFlight have a drop-down containing sub-regions within that region.
Custom Waypoint Elevation
Specify elevations for your User Waypoints and custom waypoints imported via Content Packs to plan routes to and from them like you would airports, with accurate climb/descent calculations and depictions in Profile View.
You can add an elevation to a User Waypoint in More > Custom Content > User Waypoints.
Tap the waypoint you would like to edit, tap the Elevation field to input the number, and then tap Save.
Another way to edit a waypoint’s elevation is by directly tapping it on the Maps view, then tapping Edit. Specify the elevation and tap Save as before.
Lastly, you can specify elevations in KML or CSV waypoint lists you import as part of the “navdata” sub-folder in a Content Pack. While standalone CSV files also support elevations, standalone KML files do not, so they must be imported as part of a Content Pack.
For a .csv file, simply add a column for elevation and express each value in meters (ForeFlight will automatically convert them to feet upon import). While the column names in a .csv file don’t matter, their order does. Column A is the waypoint ID or name, column B is the description, column C is latitude, column D is longitude, and column E is for elevation.
NOTE: To import a CSV file as user waypoints, it must be named user_waypoints.csv.
For .kml files, include your waypoint elevation (in meters) in the optional altitude component of the coordinates tuple. This value often defaults to 0, so ForeFlight will only recognize non-zero values (positive or negative) as elevations.
Bearing and Track Orientation Setting
Display bearing and track measurements for the Ruler, Synthetic Vision, and relevant Cockpit Instruments using either Magnetic or True North.
You can access this feature in More > Settings.
Then tap Units/Time to get to Bearing and Track Instruments.
New Runway Analysis Aircraft Support
ForeFlight’s Runway Analysis product now supports Bombardier’s Global 7500 and Dassault’s Falcon 900EX, EX EASy, DX and LX, and Textron 560 Citation XLS. Built-in Weight & Balance templates and Takeoff Trim calculations are also supported for the Bombardier and Dassault aircraft.
Runway Analysis is available for a growing list of aircraft types as an add-on to ForeFlight Performance subscription plans.
ForeFlight makes fuel planning easy with its extensive FBO Directory to help you find fuel at any airport. Save time and money by searching FBOs near your destination ahead of time to find the best pricing.
You can quickly find fuel availability for an area by tapping the Layer Selector and enabling the 100LL or Jet A fuel layers near the bottom of the right column. These map layers make it easy to spot more affordable fuel in green, moderate pricing in orange, and most expensive in red.
To check fuel availability and pricing at a specific airport, tap the airport on the Aeronautical Map or search for it in the Airports view. Tap the FBO button near the top of the Airports view to see on-field services at that airport, including fuel, lodging, rental cars, and more, with fuel providers generally listed at the top. You can also zoom into the airport diagram on the Maps view and tap the FBO locations to access them directly.
When viewing fuel prices at a particular FBO you can see when those prices were last updated by looking just below the price list. While FBO managers can access their listing and update fuel prices at any time, pilots using ForeFlight can also submit updated fuel prices by tapping Update Fuel Prices in the lower right. After you tap Submit, your updates are reviewed by ForeFlight staff and added to the directory. Note that pilot-submitted airport or FBO comments containing fuel price information will not be accepted – the only way for pilots to submit updated fuel prices is via the Update Fuel Prices button.

Per-Leg Altitude in Profile
Easily plan enroute altitude changes around terrain, weather, or airspace and visualize them in Profile View, with the option to start or end a climb or descent at a specified waypoint.
Once you enter a flight plan in the FPL editor, open Profile View then tap the waypoint’s label where you want to add an altitude change.
You can also access this menu by tapping the Waypoint Bubble on the FPL editor.
Enter the new altitude in the Altitude field, and use the Start At/Cross At selector to determine where the altitude change is conducted in relation to the waypoint: Start At will initiate the altitude change at the waypoint, while Cross At will complete the altitude change at the waypoint, shifting the start of the climb or descent earlier in your route.
Once you input a Start At or Cross At Altitude, Profile View automatically updates and displays the change to your route. ForeFlight uses your aircraft’s selected climb and descent profiles to calculate the altitude change’s duration and impact on time and fuel calculations, so you may see different results if your actual enroute climb or descent differs from the selected profile.
Profile View is included in Pro Plus subscription plans and above.
Previously limited to Europe, Graphical enroute NOTAMs are now supported around the world with the new NOTAMs map layer.
To enable Graphical NOTAMs, tap the Layer Selector, then tap NOTAMs on the right.
Tap a NOTAM on the map to view its details, or tap on multiple overlapping NOTAMs to select one from a summary list.
NOTAMs are color-coded red, yellow, or gray based on type, severity, and active times. The most severe Airspace restriction NOTAMs first appear in yellow 120 minutes prior to activating and turning red, while Scheduled Exercise NOTAMs also appear in yellow 120 minutes prior to activation, but remain yellow once active. All other NOTAM types appear on the map only when they become active.
With the NOTAMs layer enabled, selectively filter which types are shown using the new menu in Map Settings > NOTAMs Settings, with toggles for Exercises, Controlled Airspaces, Obstacles, and Other. With all toggles off, only airspace restriction and other severe NOTAMs will remain visible on the map.
Similar to other map overlays like TFRs, AIR/SIGMENTs, radar, and more, you can adjust the layer opacity using the slider at the bottom of the Map Settings menu.
Distance Rings in Kilometers
Gauge the distance to your surroundings in kilometers with a new Distance Rings setting.
Enable Distance Rings in Map Settings > Distance Rings.
Then tap any of the three labels attached to Distance Rings to change the unit of measurement. As with other Distance Rings styles, you can choose from three fixed distance settings to prevent the rings from changing size, or select the Automatic setting to automatically resize the rings as you zoom in or out.
Altitude Instruments in Meters
Customize the units of altitude displayed by the Map’s Instrument Panel for inflight reference with the new Altitude Instruments setting.
First Tap More in the bottom right corner of your screen, then Settings at the top right of the menu.
Next, find Units/Time under the Preferences section at the bottom of the Settings list, and then the Altitude Instruments menu within that.
From here you can select a unit of measurement for your Altitude Instruments.
Altitude Instruments affected by this setting include GPS Altitude, Height AGL, Height MEF, Pressure Altitude, Cabin Pressure, Vertical speed (meters per minute), Climb gradient (meters per distance unit), and Descent to Destination (meters per minute).
UL94 Fuel Prices
Find pricing and availability of UL94 fuel at FBOs in Airports > FBOs or by tapping an FBO icon on a plate or the map.
Then tap the FBO to see more details on fuel options, including self-service and full-service pricing as applicable.
Like with other fuel types, you can update UL94 prices at FBOs you visit by tapping Update Fuel Prices in the bottom-right of the FBO detail view.
New Runway Analysis Aircraft Support
ForeFlight’s advanced Runway Analysis product for jets now supports the Gulfstream G200.
Military Flight Bag: Hide Pilot Info from Filing Form
ForeFlight Military Flight Bag customers can opt to reveal or hide their name on filed flight plan forms using the Hide Pilot Info on FIling Form setting.
To disable it, start by tapping Proceed to File in the Flights view once your flight plan is ready.
From the File form, scroll to the very bottom to find Hide Pilot Info on Filing Form. Tap the toggle to turn the setting off. With Hide Pilot Info from FIling Form toggled off, Flight Plans will show the name of the Pilot in Command.
The new setting appears at the very bottom of the ICAO and DD-1801 flight plan forms and is enabled by default to match the app’s current behavior of automatically hiding the pilot’s name on the flight plan form.

GENEVA, 23 May, 2022 — Boeing announced today the signing of a new agreement with Luxaviation, the largest Europe-based private aircraft operator and charter service, to expand their partnership with Luxaviation adopting Boeing’s ForeFlight’s full product suite for their global operation.
This agreement adds to Luxaviation’s current use of Boeing’s Jeppesen charting and NavData solutions and replaces their existing flight planning and inflight solutions with ForeFlight’s integrated product ecosystem. This includes ForeFlight Dispatch for flight planners, ForeFlight Mobile EFB with integrated Jeppesen charts for pilots, ForeFlight Runway Analysis for takeoff and landing performance calculations on both mobile and Dispatch, as well as ForeFlight Fuel Advisor for cost-optimized fuel planning.
ForeFlight Dispatch goes beyond enabling flight planners to collaborate, plan, file, and monitor flight plans. From basic domestic flights to complex international trips with stringent route constraints, ForeFlight Dispatch produces optimized EUROCONTROL-valid routes with speed and flexibility. Planners using Dispatch quickly discover how much time and effort they save thanks to the system’s automation capabilities, including flexible operational rules for adapting Dispatch to unique operational needs. Finished flight plans are transmitted to pilots directly in ForeFlight Mobile in seconds, complete with detailed briefing documents for them to review right away. This solution is the first in the market to integrate a flight planning product and mobile flight deck application, with consistent data seamlessly syncing between the two in real time. New Aero Map Filters
Declutter the Aeronautical Map with new quick toggles for Airways, Navaids, and Waypoints, which were previously combined in a single toggle.
Find the best combination of these elements to suit your flight, such as:
Hiding Airways and Waypoints on VFR flights
Hiding Navaids for RNAV-based routes
Turn on Airways to inspect MEA/MOCA/MAA values and quickly hide them again for a VFR flight
Turn on Airways for IFR flights or when following along on a commercial flight
You can also access these filters in Map Settings > Airways & Waypoints. Tap the gear icon at the top of your screen near the Flight Plan (FPL) icon to access Map Settings.
Quickly Find Takeoff & Alternative Minimums
Easily find the Takeoff or Alternate Minimums for any US airport more quickly thanks to a new smart automation. When opening either of these documents from the airport’s procedures list, ForeFlight will automatically jump to the page with that airport’s information, allowing you to review it right away without flipping through pages to find the airport.
Military Flight Bag (MFB): GeoTIFF Support
Easily import charts, maps, and other mission assets from current and legacy military mapping software like FalconView with new support for GeoTIFF custom content files.
Like the MBTiles and GeoPDF custom chart formats, you can import GeoTIFF files individually and within a Content Pack’s “layers” folder. Note that AirDrop is not a supported import method for GeoTIFFs as iOS automatically imports them to the Photos app as images.
Once imported, you can access GeoTIFF charts in the bottom-left of the Maps view Layer Selector.
ForeFlight supports GeoTIFF files with resolutions up to 10,000 pixels, regardless of the image dimensions. Larger resolution images must be divided and imported as separate files. Learn more about creating and using custom Content Packs here.
Military Flight Bag: Prioritize Jeppesen Plates
MFB users with linked Jeppesen accounts can now choose to prioritize Jeppesen plates over DOD/FAA plates, causing the Jeppesen plates to appear at the top of the list wherever you access them in ForeFlight.
Enable this setting in More > Jeppesen at the bottom of the Jeppesen Settings list.
Dispatch is an add-on to ForeFlight’s Mobile and Web application that equally empowers pilots, flight planners, and ops managers in flight departments big and small to collaborate and plan flights with greater efficiency and precision.
Flexjet signs on as the inaugural customer, adopting Dispatch to complement its longtime use of ForeFlight Mobile on the flight deck.
LAS VEGAS, Oct. 21, 2019 – Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced the launch of ForeFlight Dispatch, a team flight planning component of its web application that delivers a next-generation, multi-user, schedule-to-mobile flight planning capability for flight operations of any size.
With Dispatch, flight plans are created by pilots, dispatchers, or automatically via integrated scheduling systems to generate “cleared-as-filed” routes, briefings, and operational flight plans, which are then synchronized with the ForeFlight Mobile application on crew devices. Flight watchers or dispatchers can then monitor flights or make changes to flight plans, and all changes are automatically synced back to crew devices, resulting in a more productive flight operation.
Customers across North America and Europe have already tested the new capabilities with live flight operations in an extensive beta program. The inaugural customer of ForeFlight Dispatch, Flexjet, is a preeminent operator committed to deploying the latest technology throughout the organization.

Dispatch’s Scheduling API allows ForeFlight to integrate with scheduling software providers and enterprise systems. Initial planned integrations include Boeing’s Jeppesen Operator, SD Scheduler, Flightdocs Enterprise, BART by Seagil Software, PFM Ops Console, and Avmosys.

Workflow Enhancing Integrations
Scheduling system integrations can send scheduled flights into ForeFlight, complete with the flight details needed for a flight planner to start working with them right away. Dispatch’s APIs also allow external systems – scheduling software, passenger itineraries, and more – to leverage ForeFlight’s advanced performance engine with quickly-returned “performance quotes,” delivering estimated time and fuel burn results for flights before they even reach ForeFlight.
Dispatch integrates crew assignment and mobile flight releases into its flight planning workflow, allowing planners to release flight plans directly to assigned crew members’ iPads and iPhones before departure. Flight plans are delivered to crew members within seconds of being released, complete with aircraft, airport, route, and performance details.
ForeFlight’s Navlog and Briefing documents are also generated for each flight plan and synced to crew members’ devices, providing quick access to everything they need. Any changes made by planners to a released flight will automatically sync to pilots’ devices, along with updated documents reflecting the changes.
Optimized Route Generation
Dispatch leverages and extends ForeFlight’s next-generation flight planning engine and Recommended Route, which uses Jeppesen’s high quality “runway-to-runway” aeronautical data along with forecast weather, aircraft performance, and ATC history to create optimized and globally file-able flight plans. For flights in Europe, ForeFlight automatically validates every route against EUROCONTROL rules to ensure it can be filed without rejection.
The new Route Builder feature allows planners to specify detailed route constraints that ForeFlight adheres to when generating the optimized Recommended Route. These include avoiding FIRs, airways, waypoints, and SID or STAR procedures, or including any of the above in ForeFlight’s auto-generated route. Planners can also specify “partial routes” that comply with strict overflight permits or preferential routing through certain airspace, allowing ForeFlight to incorporate those segments verbatim while optimizing the remainder of the route. ForeFlight accepts new constraints and updates the Recommended Route extremely quickly.
A key component of the Route Builder is the Route Analysis Report document, which searches Jeppesen’s digital airway manual and returns any relevant airway restrictions in seconds. Flight planners can then add new constraints to bypass the airways and re-generate the route, saving significant time and removing the need for leafing through physical airway manuals.
Dispatch also brings ETP and ETOPS planning to ForeFlight. Aircraft can be configured with details concerning depressurization and medical scenarios, ETP-specific fuel parameters, and single-engine speed used for ETOPS calculations. Flight planners can then select diversion airports for a flight and ForeFlight will calculate ETP information for each pair of airports and include it in the Navlog document for easy reference.
Enable ETOPS for a flight and ForeFlight will check that every route leg is within ETOPS certification, and display ETOPS rings around each diversion airport on ForeFlight’s dynamic route map. The map can also highlight a route’s point of safe return (also known as point of no return), allowing planners to quickly identify how far along the route the plane can still return to the departure airport with sufficient fuel reserves.
Flexible Fuel & Performance Planning
Dispatch combines ForeFlight’s existing fuel planning capabilities like Fuel Policies with new features that make the process even easier. Cruise Advisor provides side-by-side performance comparisons of different altitude and cruise speed combinations so flight planners can quickly find the desired balance between time enroute and fuel usage. Planners can choose up to three cruise profiles to compare at five nearby altitudes, and ForeFlight calculates the forecast winds, time enroute, and fuel burn for each combination. The combinations resulting in the lowest fuel usage and the shortest trip time are each highlighted for easy identification.
Dispatch adds multiple wind model options for greater flexibility while flight planning. Planners can choose the Forecasted model, which uses actual winds aloft forecasts out to seven days in advance; the Historical model, which uses historical winds with selectable probability settings of 50%, 85%, or 90%; or the Fixed wind model, which allows the planner to define a specific head- or tailwind component and ISA deviation that applies to the entire flight.
Multiple reserve fuel policies corresponding to a number of FAA and EASA regulatory designations are also available with Dispatch. Planners can select one to automatically calculate the fuel required under that policy, or manually input a quantity of reserve fuel or minutes of equivalent flight time.
Helpful Flight Documents
Dispatch extends ForeFlight’s lineup of auto-generated preflight documents with new additions that can help flight planners and crew members prepare for and conduct the flight. The Briefing document combines information about NOTAMs and forecast weather with other documents to create a single, comprehensive flight briefing for simplified crew delivery. ForeFlight’s Navlog document provides detailed flight fuel and weight metrics, waypoint-by-waypoint performance and altitude comparisons, airport frequencies, and more, making it a convenient inflight reference.
The new Overflight Report sums together all FIR overflight fees that would be incurred for a given route. For each FIR the document lists the parent country, the entry and exit coordinates, the total distance and duration spent transiting the FIR, and the overflight charges and accrued cost as the flight progresses.

From owner operators to large charter operations – trip planners will wonder how they ever lived without Trip Assistant
ForeFlight now offers customers Trip Assistant, a simple-to-use planning tool for anyone involved in mission planning that quickly computes door-to-door trip time. Trip Assistant is an enhancement to ForeFlight’s advanced web-based flight planning toolset.
Trip Assistant computes total trip time, factoring in drive time, flight times using historical and forecast winds, and fuel stops to create a detailed itinerary showing exactly when to leave in order to arrive on time at the final destination.
“Trip Assistant started as an internal project to help our flight department and executive assistants more quickly answer a question we ask on every flight: when do we need to leave our homes or offices to get somewhere on time,” said Tyson Weihs, co-founder and CEO of ForeFlight. “Powered by our best-in-class flight planning engine, Trip Assistant is a tool that any aircraft user – assistants, flight support staff, passengers, and pilots – can use to quickly compute total trip time, even when fuel stops are required.”
Trip Assistant allows for forward and backward planning by setting a desired departure time or arrival time. Customers can enter the departure and destination location by using business names, place names, or street addresses, and Trip Assistant searches for and displays the nearest suitable airports.
Additionally, Trip Assistant features a built-in Fuel Stop Advisor that factors in the aircraft’s performance and automatically suggest a number of proposed stopovers to help minimize trip time and fuel costs. Fuel Stop Advisor allows the planner to select the criteria for determining the best stops such as max aircraft range, max leg time or max leg distance. With a configured account, pilots can also view their personal contract jet fuel prices at each stop.

ForeFlight now offers customers mobile Pre-Departure Clearance (PDC) and Digital Automated Terminal Information Service (D-ATIS). The PDC service, in partnership with Satcom Direct, automatically delivers, via text and email, departure clearance information at over 70 of the busiest airports in North America, simplifying operations and reducing frequency congestion.
PDCs are official text clearances issued for US IFR flight plans, and include the filed route, the cleared altitude, transponder code, departure frequency, and any special instructions. A PDC replaces (and is the same as) receiving a verbal clearance from Clearance Delivery.
