iOS System Theme Support, Add Track Logs to Logbook Entries, and more in ForeFlight 11.10

ForeFlight’s November release includes support for iOS system theme changes, the ability to add Track Logs to Logbook entries, internet radar coverage limits, and more.

iOS System Theme Support

Keep ForeFlight’s app theme in sync with your device’s system using the new “System” app theme setting. Easily customize when ForeFlight transitions between Light and Dark theme based on your system appearance setting.

The System app theme setting replaces the Auto setting at the top of More > Settings for devices running iOS 13 and above.

iOS_system_theme_supportChange your System appearance theme in your device’s Settings app in Settings > Display & Brightness > Appearance. From there you can manually change the theme by tapping Light or Dark, or set an automatic schedule by selecting Automatic and tapping into Options. Set a Sunset to Sunrise schedule or a custom schedule where you can choose when the Light Appearance and Dark Appearance start. ForeFlight’s theme will follow the same system appearance schedule when the System option is selected.

Enhance this feature by customizing ForeFlight’s Light and Dark settings. For each setting choose the app theme, Aeronautical Map theme, and whether you want to invert plates, charts, or documents. Access these settings for each theme in More > Settings > App Theme.

Add Track Logs to Logbook Entries

ForeFlight Logbook allows you to add or remove recorded Track Logs associated with a Logbook entry to more accurately log your flights.

add_track_logs_to_logbook_entries_1200x880Tap “Add Track Log” near the bottom of a Logbook entry to choose from your list of Track Logs with suggested Track Logs at the top. ForeFlight will suggest Track Logs that occurred on the same day as your Logbook entry. You can filter the Track Log list based on Track Log name, airport identifiers, GPS source, device name, and associated aircraft tail number.

Tap “Change Track Log” below a Logbook associated Track Log to bring up the list of Track Logs again. Choose a different Track Log to change it or tap the currently selected Track Log and press Close to delete it from the Logbook entry.

Internet Radar Coverage Limits

ForeFlight’s internet radar map layers (Composite and Lowest Tilt) now visually indicate on the map where coverage is not available to help you differentiate between areas without coverage and areas with clear skies.

Non-covered areas display gray cross-hatching with a “Radar not available” message, allowing you to easily see the coverage boundaries.

You can disable the coverage display and remove the cross-hatching by turning off the “Internet Radar Coverage” setting at the bottom of the Map Settings menu (the cog button on the Maps view).

DAC International GDC64 Support

DAC_GDC64_SupportForeFlight supports connectivity with the GDC64 Tablet Aircraft Interface Unit from DAC International, providing a wired option to supply ForeFlight with GPS and ADS-B data, as well as a constant power supply.

The GDC64 serves as an installed adapter between an iPad or iPhone and FreeFlight’s RANGR series of avionics, which supplies the GPS and ADS-B data used by ForeFlight.

Connectivity with ForeFlight requires GDC64 firmware 7.0.A or above and an adapter to enable USB connectivity.
