ForeFlight is now officially supported in Australia, bringing the all-in-one flight app to individual pilots and flight departments! Having gained CASA approval as an aviation data service provider in Australia under CASR 175, ForeFlight now offers Australian pilots in the Personal, Business and Military aviation segments a dedicated subscription plan with VFR and IFR enroute charts, procedure and airport charts, regulatory documents and aviation handbooks, and a powerful set of weather resources in addition to ForeFlight’s award-winning capabilities.

ForeFlight will support all non-commercial segments of aviation in Australia with specialized products to meet the operational needs of each: the ForeFlight Mobile app for General and Business Aviation, the enhanced ForeFlight Military Flight Bag app for Military Aviation, the multi-user ForeFlight Dispatch web app for flight departments, and the ForeFlight Runway Analysis add-on product for jet and turboprop operators.
Purchasing ForeFlight for Australia
As the fourth region to receive dedicated ForeFlight support, Australia is now selectable on ForeFlight’s Purchase page for new and renewing customers to include in their subscriptions and access Australian charts and data in the app. Existing customers in Australia can renew at any time via foreflight.com/buy and receive a pro-rated discount on their renewal price based on their remaining subscription time. The Australian Dollar has also been added as a supported currency.
Charts, Data, & Documents
ForeFlight provides all the standard enroute navigation charts offered by Airservices Australia as part of all Australian subscription plans. Available VFR charts include 1:1M scale World Aeronautical Charts, 1:500k scale Visual Navigation Charts, and 1:250k scale Visual Terminal Charts. Both IFR High and Low enroute charts as well as Planning charts (PCA) are also available.
All types of IFR procedure charts (departure, arrival, approach, noise abatement, etc.), aerodrome charts (taxi and apron charts, informational documents, etc.), and AIP supplementals (where applicable) are provided with all Australian subscription plans. Additionally, any procedure or aerodrome charts that support georeferencing can be overlaid directly on the map alongside weather and other map elements with Australian Pro Plus plans and above.
Australian customers can freely download, view, and annotate published documents from both CASA and Airservices Australia in a dedicated Documents drive. This includes regulatory documents, AIPs and airport directories, informational guides, and more. ForeFlight provides intuitive capabilities to annotate, search, bookmark, and share or print documents on iPad, iPhone, and on ForeFlight Web.
Weather & NOTAMs
ForeFlight’s extensive weather capabilities are just a tap away for Australian pilots, with existing global forecast layers and new weather products from domestic sources providing timely and accurate information. ForeFlight’s Maps view displays color-coded flight category and other METAR-derived information for all airports reporting them, while TAFs are also available by viewing each airport that issues forecasts.
A variety of NOTAM types are also viewable for each airport, including Airport, FIR, and Obstacle NOTAMs, plus Jeppesen NOTAMs for customers with installed Jeppesen chart coverages. Furthermore, the NOTAMs map layer depicts graphical NOTAMs directly on the map, with detailed information, altitudes, and active times accessible with a tap.
Flight Plan Filing
ForeFlight already supports filing both IFR and VFR flight plans with Airservices Australia, enabling a seamless flight planning workflow from route planning to filing all in one app. ForeFlight’s independent connections to the global AFTN network enable Australian customers to file, amend, and cancel flight plans without signing into their NAIPS account for an even more streamlined process.
ForeFlight automatically translates the details of every flight plan along with aircraft details into a complete ICAO flight plan form before filing, allowing pilots to avoid this unwieldy form in favor of a sleek and responsive interface. Not only that, but ForeFlight will even catch and warn of potential filing errors or improper aircraft codes so pilots can review and correct the mistakes before they reach ATC.
And So Much More
While essential for flying, the Australian-specific charts, data, and weather now available in ForeFlight are only a small part of the tightly integrated feature set that makes ForeFlight the all-in-one app for pilots everywhere. Below are some of the stand-out capabilities that will help Australian pilots of all stripes plan and fly more safely and efficiently.
Extensive Cockpit Connectivity
ForeFlight leads the pack in connecting to a wide variety of installed and portable avionics to receive safety-enhancing inflight information and share flight plans to keep your entire cockpit in sync. See a full list of supported devices and capabilities here.
Situational & Hazard Awareness
Stay aware and steer clear of everything from terrain, controlled airspace, and even other aircraft with ForeFlight’s unmatched hazard awareness capabilities. ForeFlight’s Profile View combines terrain, obstacles, airspace, and even forecast weather in a side-on view for intuitive altitude planning, while Hazard Advisor sheds light on the overhead map by highlighting terrain that may be a hazard at your planned or current altitude. Once inflight, the stunning Synthetic Vision brings live terrain highlighting into 3D and doubles as a backup attitude indicator when used with an AHRS-equipped device. And with an extensive collection of inflight alert types, ForeFlight will help you stay alert around controlled airspace, terrain and obstacles, runway and taxiways, and even other aircraft with an ADS-B In receiver.
ScratchPads & Map Annotations
Jot down notes on the fly and mark up everything from documents to the map itself with ForeFlight’s extensive annotation capabilities. The ScratchPads view provides a dedicated space for notetaking, with a variety of convenient templates allowing you to easily record a clearance, PIREP, ATIS, and more. Go even further and add in-context annotations to documents, procedure plates and aerodrome charts, or directly on ForeFlight’s map (regardless of which charts or layers are active) using an intuitive and flexible set of markup tools.
Integrated Jeppesen Chart Coverages
Seamlessly integrate Jeppesen chart coverages into ForeFlight Mobile to fly with industry-standard charts, enhanced by ForeFlight’s powerful chart-viewing features. Customers can purchase Jeppesen IFR and VFR chart coverages directly as part of their ForeFlight subscription or link an existing Jeppesen account to download and view charts. With IFR workflow enhancing capabilities like Charts on Maps, Chart Annotations, and streamlined “Flight Binders” for organizing charts, it’s no wonder that ForeFlight and Jeppesen are greater than the sum of their charts.
