ForeFlight Partners with IAOPA Europe to Offer Discounts to General Aviation Pilots

This partnership brings tailored training, event information, and enhanced tools to AOPA members in 30+ European countries.

AUSTIN, Texas, USA | 8 April 2025 – ForeFlight, a Boeing company, announced a partnership with IAOPA Europe, offering a discount on its industry-leading electronic flight bag application used by pilots around the world, to AOPA members in the 30+ European countries that are part of IAOPA Europe. The announcement greatly expands Jeppesen’s existing discount on charts and NavData.

ForeFlight formally began supporting pilots in Europe in 2018. Now, many VFR and IFR pilots use it to plan, file, and fly within Europe and around the world every day.

IAOPA Europe, the European branch of the International Council of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Associations, has more than 19,000 members in 32 countries. While each affiliate is independent, they hold regional meetings and events in addition to advocating jointly for general aviation in Europe.

“We’re really excited to partner with IAOPA Europe. We look forward to working closely with AOPA affiliates, helping their members understand the unmatched value ForeFlight can bring to their flying. Each affiliate understands the needs of general aviation pilots and play a vital role in protecting the freedom to fly for pilots across Europe,” said Josh Tahmasebi, ForeFlight’s Head of International Growth.

The 15% discount ForeFlight is offering for eligible purchases made through the ForeFlight website applies to a wide variety of tools used by pilots in Europe, including:

  • Individual ForeFlight subscriptions
  • Jeppesen charts purchased through ForeFlight
  • Third-party chart add-ons

The full list of discounted products and subscriptions can be found at foreflight.com/iaopa.

Pilots in Europe can continue to receive a 15% discount on Jeppesen charts and NavData by contacting Jeppesen and providing their AOPA membership number.

“We receive constant feedback from European VFR and IFR pilots that ForeFlight has every tool they could need for flight planning, inflight situational awareness, and more. We’ve been able to deliver on many of their requests and have many more features planned for the future,” Tahmasebi said.

As part of the agreement, each AOPA affiliate will receive training and resources from ForeFlight to help pilots get the most out of the app. ForeFlight will begin to publish information about AOPA events in ForeFlight’s Discover tab, released in July 2024, helping pilots build community with each other.

“We’re excited to partner with ForeFlight,” said Michael Erb, Senior Vice President of IAOPA Europe. “Their electronic flight bag provides everything VFR and IFR pilots need, including the familiar charts our members rely on and essential airspace awareness to help them stay safe and compliant. With geo-referenced landing charts and real-time airspace alerts, ForeFlight equips European pilots with the tools they need to navigate confidently.”

ForeFlight has had a physical presence in Europe since 2016, when it acquired Odense, Denmark-based AviationCloud a/s. Today, ForeFlight’s 100+ team members across Europe oversee ForeFlight’s proprietary worldwide flight planning engine as well as contributing to engineering on all of our products, and supporting pilots in Europe around the clock.

“Some pilots in Europe see ForeFlight as an American company trying to offer the same thing that works for pilots in the U.S. here in Europe and that’s simply not true,” said Tahmasebi. “Some of our team members in Europe fly professionally. Many more are general aviation pilots. Our product, design, and engineering teams work hard to adapt the same application for general aviation, business aviation, and military pilots worldwide.”

Existing customers interested in receiving the discount on an early renewal, as well as new customers who are subscribing for the first time, can find full details at foreflight.com/iaopa.
